He had intense pain and tenderness over his buttock muscle as shown.
Diagnosis: gluteal maximus muscle strain
Treatment: gluteal muscle injection offered immediate pain relief.
58 year young man with difficulty gait presented with 6 months of left lateral hip area pain with standing or walking. The pain occasionally expands down to his left lateral thigh.
He has intense pain and tenderness over his left lateral middle hip.
Diagnosis: gluteal medius and minus muscle strain
Treatment: left gluteal medius injection offered immediate pain relief. He could stand without much pain.
62 year young man intense and severe left hip area pain with standing and walking after physical therapy.
He is recovering from back surgery
He has strong tenderness over his right lateral hip around his gluteal medius and minimus area.
Diagnosis: gluteal medius muscle strain
Treatment: local gluteal medius and minimus muscle injection with immediate pain relief.
39 year young lady 3 days of left lateral hip area pain worse with standing and bearing weight on her left leg. The pain does go to her lateral thigh to her knee but not beyond that. The pain is better when she sits down. It is worse with climbing stairs.
She has intense left gluteal minimus muscle pain with pressure. This reproduced her typical pain.
Diagnosis: gluteal minimus muscle strain
Treatment: heating pad; Pain meds; muscle relaxer.
The pain resolved with steroid pack taper in 3 ays.
80 year young man with bilateral middle buttock before and after he had leg surgery and back surgery. The pain was local and worse with prolonged walking. Sitting down and rest help.

77 year young right handed man with 3 days history of left lateral buttock and hip pain after a long car ride. The pain is local and not going to his leg. Walking makes it worse. Lying flat in bed makes it worse. Lying on his left side is even worse. He denies weakness/numbness or urinary /fecal incontinency.
Signs: left gluteal minimus pain and tenderness with pressure
Diagnosis: left gluteal minimus muscle strain
Management: Steroid and Lidocaine injection afforded him immediate pain relief.
