Appendicitis pain, early stage
Early stage appendicitis is limited to the mucosa layer of the appendix. As such, the pain is general midgut pain and localize to the peri-umbilical area. Still patient may have nausea, vomiting, malaise, anorexia, fever.
Appendicitis pain, middle stage
In the middle stage, as infection gradually expand from the lumen of the appendix to its outer surface visceral surface, the inflammation began to irritate the corresponding parietal peritoneum. Early peritoneal sign may begin to emerge.
Appendicitis late stage pain
Sharp pain to the right lower part of the abdomen. This indicates the involvement of the parietal peritoneum.

variation of pain location
The location of the appendix varies greatly. So, the location of appendicitis also varies. High index of suspicion is needed to diagnose it when the abdominal pain is atypical. Abdominal US or CT with contrast may be helpful in cases.
